DVD-lab doesn't have encoder built-in for various good reasons:
- Many users already have their own trusty hardware or software encoders so they would have to pay additional price for something they won't use.
- Both authoring and Encoding are lengthy operations. Having the encoder and authoring applications separate gives users the ability to use both on the same time or fix only the part in the production that need to be fixed.

DVD Source Creator is based on the TMPGEnc engine. It was previously available only for Sony Japan, but Mediachance is now able to offer the English 2.0 version to our custommers for a great price of $12.
It has new improved interface which smartly merge the batch processing, joining and cutting directly into the main application. Unlike the original TMPGEnc, DVD Source Creator expose to user only the important parameters.
Proven Encoding engine
TMPGEnc produces one of the best looking mpegs. The engine has been refined over the years. It is fast but still it doesn't sacrifice quality over the speed as many other encoders do.

Batch processor, Joiner and Cutting tool
The Batch processing, Joining and Cutting capabilities had been incorporated directly to the encoding process. You can add multiple input files (each can be in different format) and then process them each into separate output files (batch processing) or directly encode into one single file (joining). Prior encoding you can also select encoding range of each clip and also use Cut Editing to exclude multiple parts of the clip.
Ability to adjust the clips
Each input file can be separately adjusted:
- Select Range
- Cut selected area - either include or exclude from the clip
- Crop frame (both zoom in or mask)
- Adjust Colors
- Noise reduction
- Audio Settings
- Interlace setting and field order settings
Cut Editing
DVD Source Creator has the ability to set virtual marks to exclude multiple parts of the input clip from encoding. Since the actual cutting is done at encoding time, there is no additional disk space or time needed. In fact it takes less time to encode, since the encoder doesn't have to encode cut-out parts.
Together with the joining capabilities the DVD Source Creator can be in fact used as a simple editor.

Output Files
Video: MPEG-2, MPEG-1, (VCD, SVCD, DVD), PAL or NTSC
Audio: WAV, MPA
Output can be either multiplexed or elementary
