EP Audio Editor
Right now, only the EP-40 has the full feature set. Until Teenage Engineering gets around to updating the EP-133 and EP-1320 with their newest firmware,
Multisamples, Drum Kits, and Loops will only work properly on the EP-40 (Riddim). That’s not a design choice on our end. It’s just how it is, and there’s
nothing Cranky Man can do about it.

This 100% free version includes essential multi-sample
editing with manual region creation. No tricks.
PRO Version
For the real EP Pro. Everything and the kitchen sink.
This is the fancy version, stuffed with automatic tools like
Auto-Sample Robot, MPC/Maschine import, historic and
world tunings, and a long list of other things we already
built so you don’t have to use other tools or audio editors.
Below is the evolving feature set of the PRO version. Nothing hidden, nothing “coming soon,” and nothing arbitrarily disabled. It covers multi-sample
creation, auto-sampling, deep audio editing, intelligent mapping, and tuning systems that most software pretends don’t exist.
Cranky Man built this because the EP does a lot more than it lets on. Under the surface there’s a
surprisingly deep engine with features that are either undocumented, half-exposed, or completely
inaccessible from the device itself. This software exists to get at all of that without losing your mind.
The Cranky Man's Concise Guide to EP Audio Editor (Covers PRO Version)
So, you bought the calculator sampler. Good for you. It looks great on Instagram. But now you’re staring at a tiny seven-segment
display, trying to chop a drum break with two buttons, realizing that "DAWless" is just a fancy word for "suffering."
This manual covers the EP Audio Editor, the grumpy piece of software designed to bridge the gap between your messy optimism
and your fancy limited hardware.
Changelog
Version 1.03-1.08 (1/16/2026)
•
Cranky Maximizer - simulates hardware Maximizers. It restores lost definition and adds punch.
•
Cranky-Loc MV62V - a life-like emulation of an analogue Level-Loc limiter and compressor from 1960s.
Version 1.02 1/10/2026
•
Split the Tune/Repitch into Smart and Simple. The simple version will let you repitch selection by the exact amount of cents without trying to guess the
frequency or closest note
Version 1.01 1/6/2026
•
(PRO) fix: Import from AKAI keygroups was wrong (root notes), since AKAI use weird note system that is 13 semi-notes off from MIDI specs.
•
(PRO) addition: Export to AKAI keygroup.
Version 1.0 1/5/2026

…AND A KITCHEN SINK
Anything Cranky Man wants to try, he will add.
If he wakes up on a Tuesday and decides this app
badly needs a simulation of a beer spilling on a
mixing console, it’s going into the code.
You can support Cranky Man with a few bucks on
Ko-fi. Cranky Man solemnly promises that none
of that money will go toward food.
EP-40 Riddim Multi-Sample Expansion #1 - Cinematic Instruments
The Cranky Man had a vision. A film score. A cinematic masterpiece involving snow, slow-motion running, and profound
bitterness. Or maybe just a documentary about his hat collection. It doesn't matter.
What matters is that he tried to write it on the EP-40, and it sounded like a frantic cartoon chase scene. In the snow. Unusable.
Thin. Pathetic. “Beep" when he needed "BWAAAAAAAAM." So, he fixed it. Because nobody else would.
